Dog Behaviour and Training
Welcome to Step into Calm - an Online Programme for Reactive Dogs.
A proven training system to help your dog stay calm and responsive on walks
Step Into Calm is a structured online programme based on real one-to-one behaviour work — designed to make professional-level support more accessible, without the cost or time commitment of ongoing sessions.
Build engagement, emotional regulation, and real-world control around triggers using a clear step-by-step system you can apply at home.

Does This sound Familiar?
-
Your dog barks and lunges at other dogs or people.
-
Walks feel stressful because you're constantly watching the environment for potential triggers.
-
Your dog seems to be on high alert, always scanning for something to react to.
-
Once they're upset, it can take a long time for them to settle down again.
-
They pull on the lead, rush from one thing to the next, or struggle to stay focused on you.
-
It feels like they stop listening the moment something catches their attention.
-
Small triggers turn into big reactions, and you're never quite sure what might set them off.
-
You find yourself avoiding certain places, routes, or situations to prevent another difficult walk.
From Reacting to Responding
This programme helps your dog develop new habits and better coping skills, step by step.
-
From being over-aroused to being able to stay calm and engaged.
-
From pulling and reacting to checking in and moving with you.
-
From panicking or becoming frustrated to slowing down and thinking.
-
From stressful, unpredictable walks to working together as a team.
This isn't about suppressing behaviour or forcing your dog to cope.
It's about helping them feel safer, more capable, and giving them a different way to respond to the world around them.

Start immediately. Learn at your own pace. Get structured support along the way.
Once you enrol, you'll get instant access to everything inside the programme.
Each exercise builds on the skills taught in the previous lesson, so it's important to spend time practising each one before moving on to the next.
The programme is designed to be completed over three weeks, but you can work through it at your own pace. You'll have ongoing access to the content, allowing you to revisit lessons whenever you need a refresher or want to continue progressing with your dog.

A Proven System Made More Accessible
Step Into Calm is based on a structured training system I’ve used successfully with many one-to-one clients to help dogs who struggle with reactivity, over-arousal, and emotional regulation on walks.
The difference is that this programme has been designed to make that same level of support more accessible, more affordable, and easier to follow at home.
Rather than needing intensive one-to-one sessions, you get a clear step-by-step system you can work through at your own pace, alongside ongoing guidance and support.
I created Step Into Calm because I know that time, cost, and availability are often the biggest barriers to getting consistent help with a reactive dog.
This programme removes those barriers while still giving you access to professional structure, guidance, and feedback.
You don’t have to figure everything out alone, and you don’t need weekly in-person training to make progress.

How It Works
Once you join the programme, you'll receive immediate access to:
-
The full Step Into Calm training system
-
Step-by-step training handouts and video tutorials
-
A structured progression through engagement, movement, and emotional regulation skills
-
Access to the private Facebook support group
-
Ongoing guidance so you always know what to work on next
Throughout the programme, you'll be encouraged to share videos, ask questions, and seek feedback inside the Facebook group.
Once you've worked through the programme, you'll have the opportunity to join practical group coaching sessions, where we put the skills you've been building into practice in a real-world environment.
These sessions will be held during the daytime and evening of weekdays and weekends, with spaces allocated on a first come, first served basis.

This programme is ideal for dogs who:
-
Bark, lunge, or react to other dogs, people, bicycles, runners, or environmental triggers. either from frustration, fear or anxiety.
-
Become overwhelmed or over-aroused on walks.
-
Struggle to focus on their guardian when distractions are present.
-
Pull on the lead or rush from one thing to the next .
-
Take a long time to recover after seeing something that worries or excites them.
-
Are constantly scanning the environment looking for potential triggers.
-
Need more structure, predictability, and emotional regulation skills.
-
Can take food rewards and are able to engage with training at least some of the time.
-
Are any age - from young puppies who need more confidence to older dogs who've been practising the behaviours for a while.
This Programme May Not Be The Right Fit If:
-
Your dog is in pain or discomfort and is not receiving veterinary treatment: Pain and discomfort can leave dogs feeling vulnerable so they are more likely to lash out at social distractions, traffic and noises to make them go away or stop. Your dog needs to be physically well, or their pain is well managed in order to do any kind of behaviour modification. If you suspect that pain or discomfort is behind a lot of your dog's reactivity, please see your vet for advice or consult with me on a 1:1 basis.
-
You are looking for a quick fix rather than a long-term training approach. Lasting behaviour change takes time, consistency, and practice.
-
You currently use and will continue to use punishment-based training methods, aversive equipment, or corrections to address your dog's behaviour. The techniques taught within Step Into Calm are designed to work alongside reward-based, force-free training methods.
If you are unsure whether this programme is suitable for your dog, please get in touch before enrolling and I will be happy to advise.
A Note on Reactivity
You do not need a formal behaviour diagnosis to benefit from this programme.
Many dogs who bark, lunge, pull, freeze, stare, or become overwhelmed around everyday triggers are struggling with emotional regulation and coping skills.
Whether your dog's reactions are driven by fear, frustration, excitement, or a combination of factors, the skills inside Step Into Calm are designed to help them learn a calmer, more thoughtful way of responding to the world around them.
