Confidence Walks
Location of your choice | 45 minutes| £50

Worried, overwhelmed, or dreading walks with your dog?

Maybe you're worried about how you're handling your dog when you're out and about.

Perhaps you're feeling overwhelmed by their behaviour, you're not sure how best to respond in certain situations, or you simply have a feeling that there might be a better way of doing things.

Sometimes, it can be really difficult to see what's happening when you're the one at the other end of the lead.

Let me walk alongside you and help you figure out what's happening.

One-to-one support for happier, easier walks with your dog

Sometimes you don't need a full training programme - you just need someone alongside you to help you work out what's happening and what to do next.

Confidence Walks are 45-minute, one-to-one training walks where I'll join you and your dog in a location that works for you. We'll look at what's happening on your everyday walks, identify where you might be getting stuck, and work on practical training strategies you can start using straight away.

Whether your dog pulls on the lead, gets overexcited when they see other dogs, struggles to focus, lacks confidence, or you simply don't feel sure you're handling situations in the best way, a Confidence Walk gives you the chance to get practical, individual support while you're actually out walking together.

Who are Confidence Walks for?

Confidence Walks are suitable for puppies, adolescent dogs and adult dogs.

They might be a good fit if:

  • Walks have become stressful or frustrating and you're not quite sure what to change

  • Your dog pulls on the lead or struggles to stay connected with you

  • Your dog becomes overexcited or distracted around people, dogs or the environment

  • Your dog barks or reacts on walks and you'd like help managing those situations

  • Your dog lacks confidence in particular environments

  • You'd like help with recall or giving your dog more freedom safely

  • You've been doing some training but are struggling to put it into practice in the real world

  • You'd simply like another pair of experienced eyes on your walks

Man and Dog Outdoors

What can we work on?

Every Confidence Walk is tailored to you and your dog, so we'll focus on whatever will make the biggest difference to your walks.

That might include loose lead walking, recall, engagement around distractions, passing other dogs and people, managing excitement, helping your dog disengage from things in the environment, building confidence, choosing appropriate equipment, using rewards effectively or simply helping you understand your dog's behaviour a little better.

I'll show you what I'm seeing, explain why I think it's happening and give you practical things to work on so that you leave the session knowing what to do next.

Dog On Leash

How does it work?

Confidence Walks are 45-minute, one-to-one sessions with you and your dog.

When you book, I'll ask you for a little information about your dog, what you're currently struggling with and where you'd like to meet. This allows me to make sure a Confidence Walk is the right service for you before we meet.

We'll then meet at a park in Aberdeen City Centre and walk together, working on your training as we go.

You can book a single Confidence Walk for help with a particular issue, or book further walks if you'd like some ongoing support.

Is a confidence walk right for my dog?

Confidence Walks are designed for everyday training difficulties and dogs who may be excitable, worried or reactive on walks.

They are not a substitute for a Behaviour Consultation where a dog is displaying more complex behavioural difficulties or aggression that presents a significant risk to people or other animals.

If, from the information you provide when booking, I think your dog would be better supported through a Behaviour Consultation, I'll let you know.
